Forgiveness is so important for your physical and emotional health. To forgive does not mean forget, or “let someone off the hook” – because the person on the hook is actually you. That’s right, you.
Whatever it was, or who ever did what, is over and in the past. Even if it was yesterday. Consequences may be now, but that is something else. Look at it, Learn from it, and Let go of it (not the same as “let it go”). Notice this is not the same as “act as if it never happened”.
Maybe even take an action that might prevent re-occurrence or to help others through a difficult time. Compassionate thoughts and actions towards others can help us get out of and lessen our own internal pain as we turn our attention outward.
